About Alex Payne

Alex is a prominent British broadcaster and live event specialist primarily known for hosting major international rugby ceremonies. He is most notably the regular host of the World Rugby Awards & a sort after MC for many high-profile organisations such as HSBC, Heineken, and Help for Heroes.
An experienced television presenter and broadcaster, he joined Sky Sports News in 2004. He has fronted Sky’s rugby union coverage from 2012, presenting over 20,000 hours of live television, 200+ test matches, five Lions tours and more than 70 England internationals — interviewing every major star from Jonah to Jonny to Johnno to Jones.
In 2020, he joined James Haskell and Mike Tindall to create The Good, the Bad and The Rugby. Despite representing ‘The Good’, his association with the other two has left a once-respected broadcasting career in ruins — something he finds, at times, mildly amusing. He also runs a tech business called The Influence Room, which he’s quietly confident will outlast his media career.
