About Lewis Williams

Lewis Williams, born on December 24, 1998, in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, is a prominent English heavyweight boxer. Standing at 6 feet 7 inches tall, Williams has made significant strides in both his amateur and professional boxing careers.

In the amateur circuit, Williams showcased his talent by securing a bronze medal at the 2022 European Amateur Boxing Championships. His prowess was further highlighted at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where he clinched the gold medal in the heavyweight division, defeating Samoa’s Ato Leau Plodzicki-Faoagali in the final. This victory was particularly meaningful, as Williams dedicated it to his father, Bob, who had been hospitalized prior to the Games.

Transitioning to the professional arena, Williams signed with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions in October 2024. He made a compelling debut on November 2, 2024, at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, achieving a second-round technical knockout against Lamah Griggs. Demonstrating his growing dominance, Williams secured a points victory over Cristian Uwaka in Manchester on February 8, 2025.

Williams’ journey has been marked by personal sacrifices. In late 2023, he chose to forgo his ambition of competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics to spend time with his ailing father during his final days. Reflecting on this decision, Williams expressed no regrets, emphasising the importance of family over professional aspirations. He continues to support his local chosen local charity Myton Hospice.

Trained by Edwin Cleary at Cleary’s gym in his hometown and with a foundation of over 100 amateur fights and a burgeoning professional record, Lewis Williams is poised to make a significant impact in the heavyweight division, blending technical skill with personal resilience. Many commentators in the boxing world are tipping Lewis as a future champion who has all the attributes to make it to the top of his game in his sport.
