Simon Shaw is a former England Rugby international known for his towering presence and technical prowess as a lock forward. Born on September 1, 1973, in Kenya, Shaw moved to England at a young age and began his rugby career with Bristol before establishing himself as a key player for London Wasps, where he played for 14 seasons. Standing at 6’8″ and weighing over 18 stone, Shaw was a physically dominant figure on the field, renowned for his ability to disrupt opposition lineouts and provide a solid platform in the scrum.

Shaw earned 71 caps for England, making his debut in 1996 and going on to play a pivotal role in England’s successful campaigns, including the 2003 Rugby World Cup, where he was part of the squad that lifted the trophy, and the 2007 World Cup, where his performances helped England reach the final. He was also a British & Irish Lion, representing the prestigious team on three tours in 1997, 2005, and 2009.

Shaw’s longevity and leadership set him apart, as he continued to play at the highest level well into his late 30s. After retiring, he moved into business and commentary, becoming a respected figure in the sport both on and off the pitch.
